Go out and buy this! Actually, buy two, one for you and one for someone you love! And another one for a politician (just pick one) who supports gay rights but barely has the guts to say so! But whatever you do, don’t notice that other than questions, every sentence in an Archie comic ends in an exclamation mark! It will drive you nuts!

Archie Comics responds to the American Family Association:
“We stand by Life with Archie #16. As I’ve said before, Riverdale is a safe, welcoming place that does not judge anyone. It’s an idealized version of America that will hopefully become reality someday.
We’re sorry the American Family Association/OneMillionMoms.com feels so negatively about our product, but they have every right to their opinion, just like we have the right to stand by ours. Kevin Keller will forever be a part of Riverdale, and he will live a happy, long life free of prejudice, hate and narrow-minded people.”
— Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater

I love these people more all the time. No weasel talk, no shame, no embarrassment, just a positive message in the face of bigots.
GO, ARCHIE.

As a child (and a fan of Katy Keene comics) I always assumed that I’d own a dress like this (only $140! from Mercy Vintage Now). In every colour.

via ladiesmakingcomics:

The Comics Reporter is reporting that Drawn and Quarterly is planning new English releases of classic Scandinavian comics.

This autumn comes the first ever English translation of Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking comics!  With art by Ingrid Vang Nyman, Lindgren herself brought her classic red-headed, pig-tailed girl to comics back in the late 1950s.

Very excited about this. Pippi is one of my childhood heroes. She fueled my love for horses and flexing my muscles, as well as my fantasies about being rich and not having to do math.

Can’t believe I missed Hark, a Vagrant author Kate Beaton while she was in town (actually, I can. I knew she was coming and have had my fill of packed rooms, poor planning and strained voices at Drawn & Quarterly’s wildly popular author events). But you must pick up the new stuff in her shop.
Also, yes, just an excuse to reblog funny stuff from the harkavagrantfeed:

Neerrrrrrrrrds!
Also, I might need these. via dcwomenkickingass:

The French designer Andre just introduced a new line of shoes inspired by the women of DC Comics. We, of course, have Converse sneakers with Catwoman and, earlier, Wonder Woman. France steps up the chic factor with these.
They are not available online. I checked. And they are pretty pricey. Actually, very pricey. They start at around $177 for the flats.
Still want them.

Tewtally ridiculous jewelry – a Fingernail Armor Ring ($30) – from a ridiculously-named (in a good way) Etsy shop, Ponies Love Fashion. Would look great on a supervillain. If only Chris Nolan could create a credible on-screen Harley Quinn…

Another poster: Ghost World ($19) by Claudia Varioso, via Etsy. Damn that was a good movie. Who knew two old-ish weird dudes (Clowes and Zwigoff) would be so in tune with teenage me?

It had to happen. Minimalist posters + fervent superhero fandom = minimalist superhero posters. Best: Wonder Woman, Spider-Man. What the..?: Darkwing Duck.

Technically I didn’t cave in and buy this Ms. Marvel Marvel Universe figurine (though I did buy a Ms. Marvel comic and yet another Birds of Prey compilation, but that’s another post) – it was bought for me, by a very special, hopelessly nerdy someone.
I had some trouble getting her fiery fists on her, but other than that it is really a cut above in terms of action figures/collectible figurines/pretty lil’ dollies. Good hair? Check. A decent costume? Check. Non-moronic facial expression when you look up close? Check. Body that betrays some basic understanding of female anatomy rather than just being Spider-Man with giant boobs? Check.
