Don’t tell any impressionable teens, but sometimes it really is what’s on the outside that counts. Yet another example of me being a sucker for cool packaging: this bar of Noi Sirius chocolate ($3.99, as I recall) that I picked up at the Union Square’s Whole Foods the other week (sigh, I’ll miss you, amazing groceries and ‘healthy’ snacks).
56% bittersweet chocolate rarely gets me excited (so quit trying to sell me on ‘indulging’ in a single square of dark once a week, lady mags!), but there was just something so captivating about the wrapping – the company’s story, the paper, all white and crinkly, like a giant square of baker’s chocolate.
Appropriately enough, I used half of it for pecan brownies. To add to the air of indulgence, I made it with country churned butter, homemade vanilla and free range eggs.
