I am constantly searching for cute accent pillows for our beige sectional couch. Like everything else I’m looking for – a miracle facial cleanser, the perfect sheets – I feel like if I just get the right ones everything will come together in my life. And, like everything else I buy – pots and pans, retro pottery – I am constantly fretting over our little abode’s accent color. Because we don’t have tons of space, I feel it’s important to only have one or two splashes of color to tie the place together. Right now the brightest bits in the main room are orange, in the form of these Bontempi Casa chairs (which we’ve also got in silver and charcoal) and some magazine storage boxes on the bookshelf (which Chapters promptly stopped carrying the moment I bought a few). But we’ve also got a bit of turquoise and pale green.
But back to pillows. They’ve got to be durable and comfortable, so dirt-hiding patterns are in and ornamental sequins are out. They don’t need to match. Something urban forest-y would be cute – birds, beavers, pigeons. Of course I’ve been searching Etsy and because they’re not a priority (at least not above food and shelter), I can take my time and wait for the ‘right’ one(s). The retro-esque ones featured above from Maries Cosy Cushions are pretty cute and a good deal ($20 for two covers). Eh, we’ll see.
